Donation FAQ

Donation Forms

Q: Is it required to fill out the online donation forms regardless of what type of donation?

A: Yes, please always fill out the form for each donation to ensure we have the correct contact and donation information. It can help us process your donation more efficiently. Without a donation form, the donation will be allocated for the Foundation Operation.

Q: Is there a PDF donation form that I can download?

A: It is highly recommended that you use the online donation form and electronic payment methods which support efficient and precise donation processing. But the PDF Donation Form is still supported.

Donation Preferences

Q: What donation preferences can be accepted?

A: You can choose one or several preferences listed in the donation form. In additions, check out this NTHU donation page (院系募款), where you can find out detailed lists for each college. Note that donations to NTHU alumni organizations will not be accepted since they are not part of the NTHU school system.

Ways to Give

Q: Where can I see the bank information for ACH Bank Transfer?

A: After you submit the online donation form, the payment instructions will be emailed to you and also displayed on the thank-you page. Then you can login to your bank and initiate an ACH transfer. Note that your bank may charge a fee for ACH and Wire transfers. Zelle is an easier method and it is free.

Q: I plan to use Zelle. What name and email address should I use?

A: After you submit the online donation form, the payment instructions will be emailed to you and also displayed on the thank-you page. Then you can login to you bank to initiate a Zelle transfer. Note that Zelle is usually a fast and free payment method; yet the daily amount can be limited by your financial institutions (usually from $2,000 to $3,500).

Q: Does the Foundation accept Stock donations?

A: Yes, please contact treasury@nthu-na-foundation.org for the details.

Q: I recently learned about the QCD (Qualified Charitable Distributions) donation through IRA. Where can I see more detail about QCD?

A: You may find some information on our Gift from the QCD page. Please also search online for latest federal and state regulations.

Fees

Q: Is there any processing fee for the donation? If yes, how much it would cost?

A: There are bank/platform fees associated with some donation methods (e.g. ~2% for PayPal, and ~$25 for Bank Wire Transfers). In additions, the Foundation collects low processing fees based on the following structure:

    $10K or less (<= $10,000): 3%

    Over $10K up to $100K: 2%

Over $100K: 1% of the excess amount

Fund Distribution

Q: How often does the Foundation make grants each year?

A: The Foundation assigns donations into different funds. These funds are distributed to designated beneficiaries every quarter (starting 2024). The donation cut-off dates are 03/31, 6/30, 9/30 and 12/31 (when donations must be received). It takes about 30 days after the cut-off dates for the Foundation to transfer the funds.

Q: What is the privacy policy?

A: Selected donor information (e.g., names and email addresses) will be shared with the beneficiaries on timely basis unless the donors choose to donate anonymously. Certain non-personal information (e.g., graduation departments and years) will always be shared.
